Egypt, Officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a beautiful country located mainly in North Africa, with the Sinai Peninsula forming a land bridge in Southwest Asia. Egypt is thus a transcontinental country, and a major power in Africa, The Mediterranean region, The Middle East and the Islamic world, covering an area of about 1.010.000 km2
Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization, with famous monuments such as the Giza Pyramid complex and its great Sphinx. Its ancient ruins, such as those of Memphis, Thebes, Karnak and the valley of the kings outside luxor, are a significant focus of archaeological study.
Most of Egypt's rain falls in the winter months. south of Cairo, rainfall averages only around 2:5mm/year.On a very thin strip of the northern coast the rainfall can be as high as 410 mm, mostly between October and March. Snow falls on Sinai's Mountains and some of the north coastal cities such as Damietta, Baltim, Sidi Barrany... and rarely Alexandria.
Frost is also known in Mid-Sinai and Mid-Egypt.
